I’m a little behind this month…

  • He has been eating like crazy. We assume he is going through a growth spurt because he is always hungry.
  • He has been climbing like crazy. Turn your head for a second and he’s on top of something.
  • His vocabulary is growing. It seems like he learns a new word every other day or so.
  • He is headed on the path to being diaper free. We don’t plan on trying to hard until he is about two but he does tell us when he goes to the bathroom because he wants to be changed. It’s a good start.
  • He likes to watch Sesame Street. We are grateful for the break from Mickey Mouse.
  • He has switched over to waking up a 5am just about everyday. It’s amazing how much earlier 5am feels than 6 but if there is one thing I’ve learned over the past year and a half it is that things are always changing. He is almost a completely different person every couple of months. Hopefully the next phase will be sleeping in!

18 months

  • talks and talks and talks and talks
  • sleeping like a baby. pun intended. goes to sleep without crying most nights and if he does it is for literally 30 seconds. also going to sleep without milk anymore and sleeps for about 10 hours.
  • understands the concept of humor. he thinks he is a comedian.
  • his intelligence amazes us everyday. one year ago he was drooling and staring at us clueless and now he understands what we say and has a personality. okay, he does still drool though…
  • he’s obsessed with blueberries. I guess there are less healthy foods so no complaining here. although we probably spend eight bucks a week on blueberries. we buy the Costco size package and by the end of the week it’s gone. his poop is blue frequently. I’m sure you all wanted to know that!

I’m two days early but I have a minute so here goes…

I guess at this point you could say that Jude knows a few words. Strangers probably would not understand him but then again I don’t understand most small children that speak. He says uh oh, more, kitty, puppy, and blue (although he thinks blue means blocks because I was trying to teach him blue using a blue block). He can also say Elmo, mama, and Obama (he has a figurine) but they all sound pretty much the same. He is at the point where if you say something he will try to say it back but some letters still seem impossible for him to say. He calls both Jim and I mama. He hasn’t said dada in what seems like months. It’s really weird.

He is still is loving his daycare. I am so glad we made the decision to do this. There are things he has learned there that he may not have learned as quickly with me at home. He doesn’t use bottles at all in school and they have been weening him from his pacifier as well. He is getting really pretty good at using a spoon too. When he wants to.

Last week his teacher did tell us that he was going up to his friends and pushing them but I don’t think it was with evil intentions. We play a little rough and silly with him at home so I think he was just trying to play. (I hope!)

Fun story: This morning another mom was walking in as I left and she asked me if I was Jude’s mom. I was worried she was going to say that he did something to her daughter but she told me that her daughter is a big fan of Jude and everyday when she drops her off and picks her up all she does is say “Jude”.

This weekend we are going to the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival so it will be Jude’s first time at Disney. He is obsessed with Mickey but we will see how he is with the ‘real’ MIckey. I plan to take lots of pictures.

I have a few pictures on my camera but have misplaced the cord that plugs into the computer so once I find that I will put them up.
